. Our handcrafted Battue and Perplexity games are the two finest games that we make. They both qualify as executive desk toys, but children over the age of 8 or so will also find them challenging and fun.
Battue is an ancient oriental puzzle that has apparently been around for centuries. The object is to move the stack of discs from the center spindle to either of the other 2 spindles. The catch is that you can only move 1 disc at a time and you cannot put a larger disc on top of a smaller one. If you make no mistakes it requires 255 separate moves. The game base is 10” long, made of pine. The discs are of Maine maple.
Perplexity is a challenging puzzle that we learned from a Nova Scotian college professor who stopped by our shop in the early 1970’s. It took weeks before we could solve the puzzle ourselves. The object of the game is to move the largest block from the lower right corner to the upper right corner, simply by sliding the blocks, one at a time, within the box that contains them. It takes a minimum of 67 separate moves. A solution is available but we offer it only after you are completely “perplexed”.
All games are packaged in a plastic bag, with a header that includes all the necessary instructions.
